Larry Wesley Owen passed away on June 10, 2026, at the age of 82.
Larry was born in LaGrange, Georgia, to Lollie Owen and Troy Owen on June 7, 1944.
He attended the University of Georgia on a full scholarship and graduated with a degree in finance. The bulk of his career was spent with Karastan and Masland, the latter of which eventually became part of Lear. Over a 20-year career, he managed significant manufacturing operations and ultimately became President of Karastan. He later joined Masland, where he became Head of Operations and a member of the leadership team. After Bain Capital invested in the company and Larry joined, Masland went public six years after those events.
He later retired as Vice President and General Manager of Automotive Products for the Lear Corporation in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Lear Corporation, headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, is a supplier of automotive interior components to vehicle manufacturers.
He met his former wife in high school, and they were married for 47 years. Together, they had two sons, Tyler and Wes. Later in life, Larry loved fishing and caught 575 tarpon, an extraordinary achievement, as Floridians who fish know all too well.
Larry is survived by his two sons, Wes Owen and Tyler Owen; Patti Owen, the mother of his children; and Tyler’s two children, Beck and Evan. Larry’s last residence was in Punta Gorda, Florida.
