Leonard W. German, 84, of Rotonda West, Florida died Sunday January 17, 2010. Mr. German was born October 16, 1925 in Cloverdale, Ohio to Isadore and Elenora Blankemeyer. Mr. German was a Technical Engineer with WHIO Broadcasting in Dayton, Ohio for 40 years before retiring. He moved to Rotonda West in 1992 from Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus both in Dayton, Ohio. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army with the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. German is survived by his wife of 60 years, Deloris German of Rotonda West, FL; daughter, Denise M. Becker of Columbus, Nebraska; sons, Gary L. German of Ft. Mill, SC and Gregory A. German of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister and two brothers; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday January 22, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Englewood. Inurnment will military honors will be held on Friday January 22, 2010 3:00 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery.
