Lewis William Miller (Bill), passed away peacefully at the age of 92, with his family by his side. Bill was born on April 1, 1931 to Nelly and Lewis William Miller. He grew up in Damacus, MD with his 8 siblings, on their family farm.
At the young age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 30 years and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. Bill was a proud American but only thing he was more proud of than his country and his flag, was his family.
In the 1970’s Bill started working for Prince George’s County Public Schools where he met the love of his life Gloria (Glor). They married in 1976 and moved with their children to Calvert County, Maryland where he served as the Town Councilmen, enjoyed boating, and entertaining family and friends until retirement. Retirement then brought them to Port Charlotte, Florida where they lived for over 20 years. They enjoyed karaoke, dancing, spending time with friends and being in complete love with each other. Most recently, they moved to Osprey, Florida in resort independent living where they enjoyed community gatherings, horse racing, and ice cream every day
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and daughter, Barbara Miller. He is survived by his loving wife, Glor; 6 children Wayne Miller, Sandy Wortman (Gary), Cherie Clark, Barb Coffey (Bob), Sandy Sberro (Jacques) and John Dwyer Jr. (June); 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Military Heritage Museum, 900 West Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00 noon- Patriotic casual attire suggested. A burial of his ashes will be scheduled at the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
