Linda Ann Walsh (Schott), 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, FL after complications from a stroke.
Born in Kenmore, NY on Mar 2, 1943, Linda attended Mount St. Mary High School and then graduated with an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Industrial Chemistry from Erie County Technical Institute, a rarity for women at that time. She worked for over 20 years as a chemist at Pierce and Stevens in Buffalo, NY.
Linda met her future husband, John, at Erie Tech and they married shortly after in 1964. In 1967 she and John made their best purchase ever, a cottage at Snyder Beach, and began spending their summers “Beachin’” on the shores of Lake Erie where they enjoyed their family, 4th of July parties, and countless sunsets.
Along with working full time and raising their kids, Linda and John became landlords and renovated apartments for eleven years. This allowed them to retire at age 55 and move to Port Charlotte.
Linda loved to dance and did clogging and line dancing for many years. She loved her water aerobics, gardening, Mah Jongg, sewing, walking, and spending time with friends and family, especially playing cards and games. She volunteered for many years at hospice, Fawcett Hospital, Operation Good Neighbor food pantry in Derby, NY, and Punta Gorda Garden Club gardens.
Linda is survived by her husband, John, children Karen LeSueur (Rick), Janet Carson (Dave), Judy Robert (Denis), Christie Peterson (Erik), siblings David Schott (Linda), Wendy Zvijac (David), John Schott (Pam), Sue Bayley (Bob), ten grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, Jake, Nick, Luke, Jeremy, Ben, Noah, Zachary, Brett, and 4 great grandchildren: Mathieu, Camren, Luke and Noah.
Linda and John were married for over 60 years and when asked of her greatest accomplishments in life she would say her husband and children. Linda will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her game playing spirit, her compassion, and so much more. Her favorite mantra was “Enjoy each day!” She would often have the family, at the end of the day as the sun was setting, gathering to sing the Day is Done song “All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.”
Per her wishes, the family will be having a party to celebrate her life this summer, in lieu of a formal funeral. If you would like to make a tribute in her memory, please make donations to Peace River Wildlife Center (prwildlife.org) in her honor. This was a place Linda enjoyed sharing her love of nature and learning with everyone who came to visit, especially her grandchildren.
