Luther Arnold Marsh Jr., 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away May 31st. 2020. He was born March 29th, 1949 in Thomasville, NC to the late Dr. Luther Arnold Marsh Sr. and Opal Virginia Yarborough Marsh.
Luke attended Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro, VA; graduated from Francis C. Hammond High School, Alexandria, VA. 1969 and he also graduated from University of Florida with studies in IT Computer Technology, 1992.
He was a Computer Technician, all around Handyman. Luke was a Master Left-handed Calligrapher. Member of the boys social Fraternity at Francis C. Hammond High School in Alexandria, VA.
Luke’s family moved around a lot as a youth as his father was transferred to many different locations during his career. He was just a little guy as his father raised 3 children while attending the University of North Carolina (UNC) to become a Chemical Engineer and later graduated from George Washington University in the District of Columbia, Washington D.C. as a Patent Attorney. His mother was a Bookkeeper in a local country club in Richmond, VA and in Fairfax, VA. Over the years, as a child and young man, Luke enjoyed the company of a large family and friends and was a very caring and loving brother. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play pranks on his brothers and sister, but always with a twinkle in his eye and with love in his heart. He was the life of the party and had the ability to make others laugh. Luke was known for his soft soul and tender heart and would go out of his way to help you. If you needed it, he would give you the shirt off his back even if it was the only one he had. He participated in the swim team and had an awesome forward flip with a half twist off the high diving board. He shared a special relationship with his brothers Ric and Charles. He and his brother Ric attended Fishburne Military Academy in middle school. Luke graduated from Francis C. Hammond High School in Alexandria, VA in 1969. Luke worked at many occupations in his career and even got his Computer certification later in life. After he retired Luke became a private person and continued to enjoy his many furry pals over the years. Later in life he made his home in Port Charlotte, FL where he had many good friends and neighbors.
Luke had a great sense of humor, was an all-around friendly person, loved life and sports, especially football and the Washington Red Skins. Luke also loved all animals, especially dogs. He had many dogs over the years and as many as 6 at one time. He should have followed that passion and become a veterinarian.
He is survived by his sister; Loma Marsh Mier (Vic) of The Villages, FL and Charles A Marsh (Savi) of Brentwood, NY. Luke also leaves behind nieces and nephews; Virginia L Mier Wilson (John) of Fairfax, VA, Victor A. Mier III (Anna) of San Francisco, CA, Zachery, Shelby and Chris Marsh of Brentwood, NY
He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Luther Arnold Marsh Sr. and Opal Virginia Yarborough Marsh and his brother Richard S. Marsh.
