Marian Etta Minor, age 92, of Punta Gorda, Florida, peacefully entered her eternal home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center.
Born in West Grove, Pennsylvania, Marian was the cherished daughter of the late Adnell and Sara Lee. She grew up in a loving family alongside her brothers and sisters, learning the values of faith, hard work, service, and compassion that would guide her throughout her life.
On March 1, 1952, Marian married the love of her life, Philip T. Minor Sr., beginning a beautiful partnership that would span more than sixty-four years. Marian graduated from Avon Grove High School on May 29, 1952, and soon embraced her most treasured roles as wife, mother, caregiver, and faithful servant of God. Together, Philip and Marian built a home centered on faith, family, and love.
A devoted Christian, Marian worshiped with Church of Christ congregations in Kelton, Pennsylvania; the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania; Fort Ogden, Florida; and Port Charlotte, Florida.
Marian possessed a rare and beautiful gift: she was a skilled listener. She sought first to understand rather than to respond, making others feel truly heard. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel important and cared for, whether they were family members, friends, neighbors, or complete strangers.
Marian’s life reflected the Agape love she so often spoke about—the selfless, unconditional love of God. She extended that love to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and countless others throughout her lifetime. Her home was a place of warmth, safety, and welcome, where everyone knew they would be received with kindness and grace.
Marian expressed her faith daily through prayer. She held family members, friends, church communities, and those struggling close to her heart. Whenever someone shared a concern, Marian would often say, “I will be sure to add them to my daily prayers.” Over the years, her ever-growing prayer list became a testament to her compassion for others and her steadfast belief in the power of prayer.
Together, Philip and Marian raised seven children while creating a lifetime of cherished memories. Family camping trips became a treasured tradition as they traveled throughout the United States and Canada, often caravanning with Philip's brothers and their families. These adventures created lifelong memories and strengthened the bonds that continue to unite their family today. No matter where their travels took them, worship remained a priority, and they faithfully sought out Churches of Christ wherever they journeyed.
In addition to raising her own children, Marian devoted many years to caring for children through the daycare she operated from her home. Generations of children experienced her nurturing spirit. Her influence extended far beyond her own family and touched many lives throughout the community.
After the passing of her beloved husband in 2017, Marian embraced a new season of life while continuing to inspire those around her. One of her greatest joys became exploring music from a wide variety of artists and genres. She spent countless hours listening to and discovering music that uplifted her spirit and enriched her days. Music brought her comfort, joy, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of God's creation.
Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Philip T. Minor Sr.; parents, Adnell and Sara Lee; and siblings, Oliver Lee, Dorothy Murray, Adnell Lee Jr., Ida Wilson, Evelyn Cubbage, Lewis Lee, Kathleen Warren, and Robert Lee.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Edith Neal of Delaware; and her devoted children, Philip Minor Jr. of Tennessee, David Minor of Maryland, Timothy Minor of Delaware, Vanessa Minor of Florida, Virginia Whiteley of Maryland, Marie Neugent of Arizona, and Regina Minor of Michigan.
Marian’s legacy continues through her eleven cherished grandchildren: Sherrie Brown, Kerry Brown II, Laura Hill, Jarrett Minor, Tyrell Minor, Philip Minor III, Aja Saunders, Michael Mitchell, Shani Saunders, Nadiri Saunders, and Jayden Minor; her five precious great-grandchildren: Tobin Hill, Nyla Hill, Ezra Minor, Eli Minor, and Atlas Minor.
She is also survived by her beloved son-in-law’s, Eric Neugent and William Whiteley; daughter-in-law, Wendy Minor; grandchildren-in-law, Dwan Hill, Lindsay Minor, Jumoke Minor, Kyra Keuben, and DevonSimonne Carlton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her extraordinary kindness and love.
Throughout her life, people shared stories of the wisdom, understanding, encouragement, and compassion they received from Marian. Her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and unwavering love left an enduring impression on everyone she met.
Marian's life was a beautiful reflection of God's love. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the lives she nurtured, the prayers she faithfully offered, and the countless hearts she touched along the way.
After nearly ten years apart, Marian may now be reunited with her beloved Philip. Together again, their remarkable love story continues in the presence of the Lord they faithfully served throughout their lives.
