Mariano Iriarte

Mariano Iriarte, age 74, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Mariano was born on July 8,1952, in Havana, Cuba to Mariano Iriarte Zulueta and Maria Hortencia Rosario Rodriguez. His childhood was surrounded by love, traditions, culture, and strong family values. Although his early years in Cuba were not always easy, he always carried with him a deep pride in his Cuban heritage. He had a passion for sports from an early age, especially swimming and baseball, which brought him great joy, and became an important part of who he was. The strength and perseverance he developed during those early years stayed with him throughout his Journey.

Mariano met the love of his life, Ana Maria in Brooklyn, New York after she arrived from Buenos Aires, Argentina as a young woman. The two built a life filled with love, perseverance, and family. On August 30, 1974, they were married at the St. Marks Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.

After coming to the United States Mariano lived in Washington Heights, then made Rockland County, New York his home, where he and Ana Maria built a life filled with love, family, and meaningful moments while raising their children. He was a devoted husband and father who worked hard and made sacrifices so his family could have every opportunity. He was steadfast in his support of his children and took great pride in their accomplishments. He had a quiet strength, a generous spirit, and a deep sense of responsibility to those he loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ana Maria Iriarte; his children, Mario Iriarte and his wife Lissette, Marisa Iriarte Steixner, and her husband Theodore and Daniel Iriarte and his wife Jacqueline; and his grandchildren, Mario Andres, Sebastian, Daniella, Isabella, and Christian Iriarte, Zachary, Austin, and Peyton Steixner as well as Julian and Emerson Iriarte; and his sisters, Magaly Iriarte Borodinsky, Mercedes Iriarte Saloot, Marlene Iriarte Jimenez; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

A memorial service celebrating Mariano’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on August 21, 2026, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery chapel, in Washington Township, New Jersey, following the chapel service, he will be laid to rest in his final niche within the cemetery.

Flowers are gratefully welcomed. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation in his memory to support pancreatic cancer research.

Mariano will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his resilience, and the example he set through his work ethic, and integrity. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
