On May 29th, 1937 Sydney, NS welcomed their newest little citizen – Marvin Joseph Anthony (Tony) White. He may have been little at the time, but Tony went on to live life on his own grand terms.
Tony was raised in the Catholic church where he learned to appreciate the sacramental wine and Notre Dame football.
He began his career, proudly, in the Canadian Air Force. His service took him and his young family to Toronto and set him up for a career in aerospace. He worked as a technical writer for several Canadian aerospace companies including Spar Aerospace. While at Spar he worked on the Canadarm team for the Space Shuttle program.
Tony loved fast cars, and was quite the MacGyver. Whether it was cobbling together one Z from two brokens ones, or turning a TV into an aquarium Tony liked to tinker. He was very tech savvy, building his own computers and serving as an alpha-tester for Windows 10.
Tony accomplished much, but the thing he was most proud of were his children. He was a devoted father, building ice rinks in the backyard, mounting speakers in the trees for the kids and their friends. He was known by their friends as the candy-man for his candy-making skills. And he always had a way of making life’s lessons fun, like telling them to clean the window until it laughed.
He will be missed by many, for his unwavering strength, witty humor and, most of all, his love for his kids and grandchildren. Tony was always up for an adventure, especially when it comes to his favorite sports – cooking, wine tasting, creating fun, golfing, poker, card games and fishing.
Tony lived large, laughed with abandon and loved his family fiercely.
Tony will be dearly missed by his children Angela (Brian) Rolston, Punta Gorda, FL, Christopher (Jijie) White, Windsor Grand Falls-Windsor, NF, Marshall (Shannon) White, and Leslie White Orangeville, ON; grandchildren Chanel (Conor Figley) White, Brayden White (their mother Ann White), Shannon (Jon) Swigert, Olive White, Joseph Rolston, Jonathon (Taylor) Koppert-Rolston, Khent-Lord, and Shawn-Kerr; and many nieces.
He was predeceased by his son Randy White; sisters Judy (Fred) Grezel, Marlene White, Joan Hansen and parents Gilbert and Evelyn (Fewer) White.
In lieu of flowers, please raise a glass to Tony!
