
Max J. Cleveland, 82, of Punta Gorda, FL died January 12, 2007 at the Life Care Center of Punta Gorda. He was born April 17, 1924 to Cleve and Jean Whiteaker Cleveland in Punta Gorda, FL and worked in Operations Research for the U.S Bureau of Mines. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Ault. Max was an active member of the American Legion Post 103 and was involved in many activities there including coordinating the Oratorical Contest. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda and served in prison ministry where he tutored inmates in math. He was pre deceased by his wife, Joyce Elaine Cleveland, his sons, Clark, Price and Christian Cleveland and his brothers, Gerald, William and US Cleveland.
He is survived by his son Paul Linda Cleveland of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Micah and Prisca Cleveland of Madison, AL; a step-daughter, Janice Twiss of Punta Gorda, FL and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 3 to 4 pm, Monday January 15, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda, 507 W Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda. The Funeral Service will follow at Monday at 4:00 pm at the church with the Rev John Bryant officiating. Burial with military honors will be held the week of March 19th at Indian Springs Cemetery.
