
Loved by all, Mel was everyone's' hero. He graduated from Clay High school in Oregon, OH and lived in the area with his family for 65 years.
Serving as a Marine in the VMSB 341 squadron, Mel received many distinguished honors and medals, including the Flying Cross and is listed in the Combat Aircrew Roll of Honor. He was active in WWII and the Korean War. Semper fi Mel!
He was very active throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, softball, gardening, refereeing wrestling, playing cards, dancing, family and friends.
Mel was preceded in death by his loving wife Bettie, married for 63 years.
He is survived by his children Ted, OR., Michael (Karen), CA., and Linda (Jim), OH., many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and girlfriend Louise Johns.
The family will host a Memorial Friday July 14, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial in Perrysburg followed by a celebration of life in Oregon, Ohio at the Pearson Park, Macomber Lodge (time to be announced.)
Donations may be made in his name to the Carmelite Monastery, LaPlata, Maryland, Everglades National Park, or Marine Wounded Warriors.
We'll miss you Mel, and we're sure you're having a wonderful time dancing with your favorite partner in Heaven.
