He was born in Sayville, Long Island, NY August 10, 1930. He served in the US Navy for 5 years as an underwater welder. He then worked as a Building Contractor. He moved to Englewood FL in 1968 and had a hand in building many of the homes and businesses in the Englewood area. He retired in 1991 and enjoyed spending part of his time in Cleveland, GA. He enjoyed sports, working with model trains and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Janet. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. His son Richard (Debi) Albrecht, his daughters Sheryl (Bill) Strall and Susan (Ron) Franklin. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of Englewood. His sister Doris (John) Ludlow of Citrus Springs, FL. George is preceded in death by his mother and father and three brothers.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Englewood United Methodist Church. Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood is in charge of cremation arrangements.
