

Jim's early life was spent growing up in various military bases around the country. Among his favorite military homes were Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, and Ft. Lee, Virginia. Jim was also fortunate enough to live 3 years in Germany, and traveled to other European countries while overseas.
Jim Graduated from Prince George High School in 1962, and went on to attend 2 years of college in McCook, Nebraska. He was married to Judy Proffitt in 1964, but later divorced. He moved on to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to help his folks run their antique and furniture stripping business. It was on a skiing trip to the nearby mountains that he met the love of his life and future wife, Pearl Isquith. They married on March 31, 1974.
Jim and Pearl set up house in Littleton, and later, Franktown, Colorado. Two children joined this union, Joshua Pattin Harris in 1980, and Madelyn Kay Harris in 1986. Jim loved being a father to his children, and often boasted of their accomplishments. In June of 1992, the Harris family moved to Flower Mound, Texas, where Jim worked as systems administrator for Genuine GM Parts. He retired in 2009.
Pearl passed away July 10, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Jim then fulfilled a promise they made to each other and retired to a town they both loved, Punta Gorda, Florida.
Jim loved owning and racing cars for the SCCA. He won numerous local and national awards for his racing skills.
Jim's health began to fail in June of 2014, and passed away at Bayfront Medical Center, Punta Gorda, Florida, August 9th, 2014. He was 70 years old.
Those left to mourn him are his children, Joshua and fiancee, Jennie McCauley of Lewisville TX; granddaughter Avery Elise Harris, Lewisville, TX; Madelyn and special friend Brian Peterson of Tampa, Florida; sister Sally Harris Smith of Auburn, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Louie and Claudia Isquith of Seattle, Washington, and numerous friends throughout the country.
