Mr. James McGrady

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Rosemary (Spinella) of Yonkers, NY. They were married at Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers, NY on 11-16-63. He is also survived by his only child James K. McGrady and wife Michele (McNelis) of Kennebunk ME, twin sister Anne Marie McGrady and sister Cathy Daleo both of Bronxville NY, and nephew Chris Daleo and his family of Middletown, NY.

Jim was born on July 13, 1937 in Yonkers, NY, to parents John and Anna (Murray) McGrady. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1956 Yonkers, NY. He worked for the Wall Street Journal, Universal Studios in CA and made a career at Verizon in NY. For over 20 years at Verizon Jim was President of the CWA Union local 1195. In 1994 he retired to Punta Gorda, FL (his "Jewel") and became Alumni Director of Seafield Center, an alcohol and drug treatment facility. He later became an alcohol and drug counselor. He also worked for Stuff A Bagel where he got his nickname "Jimmy Bagels".

Jim was socially active and involved with several groups within Punta Gorda. His family and friends will always remember him as a devout Christian, genuine, a giving and affectionate friend, a diplomat, good humored, passionate about music, old movies and trivia. Jim dearly loved his family and many friends.
