William Hunt Sargent Jr., 68, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 in Punta Gorda, FL. William was born on March 10, 1948 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was the son of William and Francis (Scott) Sargent. William graduated from Alva High School where he met his beloved wife, Gail, of 42 years.
William was proud to serve his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. During this time, he received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and was decorated as an expert M14 operator.
After returning home, he began his career in the field of electrical supply sales and electrical contracting. In 1984, William and Gail moved to Charlotte County where he became a Master Electrician and opened Sargent Electric.
William favorite place to be was outdoors. He could usually be found in his barn repairing something broken, building something new, or visiting with friends that would stop by to say hello. He was only a phone call away for anyone who needed his help in any way. William loved caring for his property and cattle, as well as going fishing with friends. His most cherished times, however, were spent with his family, especially his two grandchildren.
William leaves behind his wife, Gail Sargent, his daughter, Chelsie and son-in-law Ryan Provencal, his grandchildren, Addison and Carson Provencal, his brother, Mark and sister-in-law Dawn Sargent, and his niece, Crystal Sargent.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 beginning with visitation at 12:30 followed by a memorial service from 1:00-2:00 at the Deep Creek Community Church in Punta Gorda, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed, in his memory, to the Wounded Warrior’s Project or the American Cancer Society.
