
Norma Caroline Elliott Monson 73, of Punta Gorda, FL died September 23, 2009. She was born October 20, 1935, in Casey, IL to Theron and Inez Elliott. Mrs. Monson earned her teaching certificate in 1957 from Illinois State and was a member of both the DKG and ADK sororities. She was a Home Economics teacher in the Punta Gorda school system from 1957 until retiring in 2002. Mrs. Monson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda and the Peace River Quilters Guild.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Pete Decker of Eureka, Il; sisters-in-law, Noriko Monson and Martha Ellen Lee Fish of Punta Gorda, Fl; nephews Timothy Patricia Decker of Colfax, Il; Daniel Lynn Decker of Brownsburg, In; Leland P. Fish of Indianola, Io; William Fish of Charlotte, NC; Robert Fish of Orlando, Fl; James Fish of Fairbanks, Alaska nieces, Caroline Doug Moore and Linda McGhee of Peoria, Il; and Lisa Moore of Indian Lake, NY; grandnephews, Taylor Decker, Elijah McGhee, and Brady Moore; grandniece Amanda Moore. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 45 years, Walter Homer Monson, a son, William Linn Monson and a brother-in-law, Bill Monson.
The Visitation will be from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev Bob Carlson officiating. Inurnment will be at the Charlotte Harbor Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Assoc or to the charity of their choice.
