

She was born April 17,1925 in Lapeer N.Y. the daughter of Lawson and Ruth (Hamlin) Parker. She was a lifelong resident of Marathon and loved the beauty of Central New York.
Norma graduated from Marathon Central School as valedictorian, received her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and received her Masters Degree from Cornell University. She worked as a research chemist for Bristol Myers. Norma and husband Bob started Parker Lumber Company in Marathon, New York, which they owned until retirement. She was a Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics teacher in Marathon New York for 25 years. Her students remember her as a teacher with high standards who prepared them for the future wherever it led them. She was a pioneer in computers in the classroom and with other teachers wrote one of the first manuals for the classroom teacher on use of the computer. She initiated the First Earth Day tree planting in the Village.
She married Robert Munson Parker in 1945 who predeceased her in1996. Her son Robert Lawson Parker also predeceased her.
Her greatest joy was her family; husband Bob, son Bobby, and daughters Wendy and Amy as well as grandchildren Kady (Matt) Hunt, Drew, and Lauren and most recently the love of her life Parker Raylan Hunt , Kady and Matt’s son.
Services will be held in Marathon, New York at the First Presbyterian Church On June 11 at 11:00 AM with calling hours preceding at 9:00 AM. A Graveside service will follow at the cemetery and a meal in the church rooms.
In lieu of flowers Norma would like donations be given to Marathon Presbyterian Church and Peck Memorial Library.
