Patrick K. Brady, age 68, passed away on January 2nd, 2017, in Punta Gorda, Florida. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and a man of deep faith and optimism, Patrick’s life was marked by love, service, and quiet strength.
Patrick honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he began a long and dedicated career as a train engineer with the Long Island Railroad, where he worked for 30 years with pride.
After retiring, Patrick and his beloved wife Maureen relocated to Florida, where he embraced a slower pace of life. He found joy in gardening, spending time on the golf course, and took great pride in his unofficial title as the family's "royal house cleaner."
Patrick was a man who saw the good in every situation. Even after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in April 2015, he lived each day with purpose and positivity. He and Maureen traveled the world together, creating cherished memories in Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Through it all, his steadfast faith remained his guide. He lived by the verse Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Patrick is survived by his loving wife Maureen; his children Patrick, Stacy, Louis, and Deirdre; his grandchildren Shannon, Patrick, and Joseph; his brother Peter and sister Kathleen; and a large circle of family and friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and unwavering optimism.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and love—and a reminder to all of us to live fully and always look at the glass as half full.
