Peter was born on June 6, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Rose (Piccolo) Cracchiolo. He attended school in Port Washington, New York, and graduated from St. Peter’s of Alcantara Catholic School.
Following graduation, Peter proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Boatswain's Mate Third Class aboard a destroyer. He delighted in showing visitors what was growing and often sent them home with fresh produce. Those simple acts of generosity reflected his love of hard work, his pride in what he created, and his enjoyment of bringing happiness to others.
