
Rebecca "Beckie" M. Johnson, 45, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away suddenly on April 20, 2011. She was born on September 11, 1965 in Elkton, MD and graduated from Elkton High School in 1983. She then married her love, best friend and soul mate E. Warren Johnson on October 4, 1986.
Besides the love for her family, she loved her dogs, the military and horses. During her life she resided in Scotland, Panama and the United States. While living in Panama she was the director of the Girl Scouts of the United States in South and Central America. She also worked for special operations commander General Barry McCafery and special operations commander General Wesley Clarke. Beckie was a plank owner of the USS Pearl Harbor (LSD-52). She was also the very first Ombudsman for the ship. She was the liaison for the Pearl Harbor survivors and its military families between the Navy and the Captain of the ship. In 2008, while living in Punta Gorda, FL, Beckie was named one of Charlotte Counties Insurance agents of the year.
She is survived by her husband E. Warren Johnson of Punta Gorda, FL ; her children, Whitney and Carl Price and Erik Johnson; her granddaughter, Aelianna Price, all of Punta Gorda, FL; her parents, Ralph and Wanda Mundy of Okeechobee, FL; siblings Ralph Mundy and Renee Mundy as well as many other family members.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm till 5:00 pm, Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Kays- Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home , 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
