Robert M. Albertsen

Robert M. Albertsen, 88, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away April 13, 2010. He was born January 20, 1922 in Pekin, IL and moved to this area in 1984 from El Paso, TX. He retired in 1971 as a Sergeant Major in the US Army. He earned a Master's Degree in Education and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 82, the VFW and was a member of Gulf Cove United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Albertsen of Port Charlotte, FL; sons, Mike Albertsen of Port Charlotte, FL and John Albertsen of Englewood, FL; a daughter, Susan Johnston of Alaska; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Albertsen of Pekin, IL.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm and 6:00pm and 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday April 16, 2010 at the funeral home with the Rev Ralph Burton officiating. Inurnment with military honors will take place at 10:00 am, May 24, 2010 at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
