

He was born in Springfield, OH on January 30, 1929. In his hometown of Springfield he attended Wittenberg University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Master’s degree in education. In 1974 he earned a doctorate in education from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He was selected as a Fellowship Recipient for the Mott Inter-University Clinical Preparation Program for School Administrators.
In 1982, Robert retired from public education in Springfield, OH after serving as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, and, for 15 years, as a high school principal. After retiring to Charlotte County, Robert was elected to the Charlotte County School Board in 1988 and was appointed to the Edison Community College District Board of Trustees in 1987.
Robert was a charter member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda where he served twice as an elder, taught church school, and was a member of numerous church committees. He was also a member of the Punta Gorda Rotary Club, chairman of the Rotary Charity and Education Foundation, board member of the Council on Aging, New Operation Cooper Street, Debbie Lee Children’s Services, and the Port Charlotte Cultural Center.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Counter Intelligence Corps as a Special Agent/Investigator from 1951 to 1953.
Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary K., daughter Barbara Davis (Donn), granddaughter Julie Love, grandson Jeffrey Love (Antoinette) and two great grandsons, Cameron Robert Love and Anthony Niko Love.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, Punta Gorda Chapel.
