Ronald D Bell, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully 3.9.18 with his son and daughter at his side. Born 5.7.49 in Elkhart, IN, to Richard S. Bell and Anna Bell, Ron's life encompassed two long careers: in the US Navy, from which he retired as a Chief Torpedoman and where he served two tours in Vietnam, and with the Lee Co. Sheriff's Department, where he served as a deputy.
A devoted and loving father, he is survived by his son Jason, of Cape Coral; daughter Millisa of Saint James City, stepchildren Kelli Laird and Sarah Wamack, wife Katie Bell, brother Jack Bell of Indiana, and sister Jean Rodgers of N. Ft. Myers.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman who has happiest fishing and working on projects outside. He enjoyed reading and was a military history buff. He will be remembered for his service to Country and State, his quick wit and sense of humor.
Ron lovingly raised and cared for a disabled daughter, Ronnie, who perished in a fire over a year ago. He adored this child and now joins her in Heaven.
