

Sally A York, 67, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away October 3, 2011. She was born October 9, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA to William and Ann Coonrad. She was previously employed by the East Windsor Twp, NJ School District. She was a member of the Morningstar Chapter 22, Order of the Eastern Star in New Jersey.
She and her husband Jerry moved to Punta Gorda, FL from Massachusetts eight years ago, and have enjoyed the "Florida Lifestyle" since the move. Sally was a founding member of The Charlotte Harbor Parrot Head Club and a lover of the Tropical Paradise style of living. She was a Lady Conquistador, supporting her husband Jerry as the President of the Ponce de Leon Conquistadors. Sally was an avid reader and enjoyed games, and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Jerry York of Punta Gorda, FL; daughter, Linda A. Mitchell of Cape Coral, FL; son, Jason W. Mitchell of St. Augustine, FL ; two grandsons, Eric and Jerry Alston, two granddaughters Kaley and Leah Mitchell.
two step-sons, Stephen G. York of Pasadena, MD and Ronald A. York of Melrose, MA; three step granddaughters, Caitlyn York, Danielle York and Madison York; a sister and brother in law, Carol and Wiliam Schlaupitz; many nieces and nephews; God-son, Christoper Kern; her former husband Gerald W. Mitchell of Naples, FL and many new and lifelong friends. She was pre deceased by her parents and a sister, Barbara Summer.
A "Birthday Party" celebration of life will be held at the Nav-A-Gator Grill Chiki Hut in Lake Suzy, FL on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Sally York, for the support of local charities, can be made to the Charlotte Harbor Parrot Head Club, P.O. Box 474, Englewood, FL 34295-0474.
