Samuel R. Adams, 88, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away June 24, 2010. He was born October 28, 1921 in Lincoln, NJ and moved to this area in 1985 from New York City. He worked in Production Control for the defense contractor Sperry Gyroscope Company (Sperry Corp) which was heavily involved with the Apollo Space Mission and retired in 1985 after 44 years of service. Mr. Adams was a WWII veteran of the US Marines. He was an active member of the Marine Corp League #756 and was privileged to be on the first Honor Flight to the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC. He enjoyed photography, was a member of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed his Bible Study group.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Adams of Glen Oaks, NJ; daughter, Samantha Adams and grandson Shawn O'Connell both of St Petersburg, FL.
A Graveside service with military honors will be held at 9:30 am, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Mr. Adams may be made to the Marine Corp League.
