

Sharon L. Keener, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away January 31, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born November 22, 1934 in Winchester, IN. She graduated high school in Pierceton, IN and went to the Lutheran School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, IN to obtain her RN degree in Nursing. Her extensive 40 year nursing career included private duty nursing, before finding her love in labor & delivery nursing as well as new mother/baby care, child birth classes and the nursery.
Sharon was obviously a champion nurse, but also held over 100 hundred trophies for car rallies and slalom racing in a 1968 Shelby GT Mustang that she raced for over ten years with her husband Tom. Sharon and Tom retired to warm sunny Florida where they enjoyed many years of golf, cards and yard saleing with a host of special friends.
Survivors include her husband and high school sweetheart of 61 years, Tom Keener; two daughters, Vicki (Howard) Nelson of Benton, AR and Laura Keener of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Christy (Mark) Renfroe of Lena, MS, Jennifer Nelson of Benton, AR and Tommy (Liz) Keener of Punta Gorda, FL; great grandchildren, Nikolas Keener, Jack & Evan Renfroe and Emily and Chloe Keener. Also left to miss her is her sweet dog Maggie and extra "grandson" Derek Perkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Violet Warring and a grandson Patrick Keener.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103.
