
Sheila. J. Glade, 70, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was born December 14, 1942, in Mobile, AL to Dr. Socrates N. and Gertrude G. Rumpanos.
Sheila left Mobile in order to attend the University of Maryland, where she obtained her B.S.N. She remained in the Washington, D.C. area, where she raised a family. Her career as a devoted nurse spanned several decades. She had an endless capacity for caring, comforting and loving. Sheila gave freely to others throughout her life, and she will be missed deeply by family and friends alike.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Conrad H. Glade; her children, Vincent J. Zugay, Jr. (Alexis) and Elona J. Menge (Dan); grandchildren Luke Menge and Lauren Menge; step-daughter, Heather Huynh (Robert); step-grandchildren, Madison, Hannah and Cameron; sister, Jean Dunn (George); niece Michelle Hale (Shane) and nephew, Christopher Anderson (Kelly); and seven cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and by son Paul N. Zugay.
In their thirty years together, Sheila and Connie shared a lifetime. They lived in Deep Creek Lake, MD and Placida, FL, traveling regularly via RVs, motorcycles, boats and ships. As a Snow Bird and an avid traveler, she enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, waterskiing, camping, scuba diving, golfing, and boating, as well as simply relaxing on the beach. She was a member of the Cape Haze Women's Club and the Corvettes of Charlotte County club.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. in Port Charlotte, FL.
