Sophie K. Lyons, 86, of Englewood, Florida, died May 22, 2009. She was born August 7, 1922 in New Haven, Connecticut to John and Sophie Grieser Klinkhammer.
She moved to the Englewood area in 1986 from West Haven, Connecticut. She was a member and secretary of the Edgewater Club of Lemon Bay Isles in Englewood.
She is survived by her son, James of Englewood, Florida; her daughters, Mary Brown of Richmond, Virginia, Nancy English of Rockaway, New Jersey, Margaret Byrne of Bradenton, Florida and Ellen Olski of Melbourne, Florida; her brother, Edwin Klinkhammer of Englewood; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Lyons and her son, John H. Lyons and one grandchild.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Lemon Bay Funeral Home Englewood Chapel, with funeral services to follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood.
