

Steven "Steve" Alfred Ritzer, 66, of Port Charlotte died Wednesday, November 13, 2013. He was born on October 6, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY to Seymore and Gertrude (Litman) Ritzer. Steve was the second of 6 children including, Peggy (deceased), Don, Sandy, Shelly and Jeff. Steve joined the Marines in 1968 and served in Vietnam. He received the following medals and citations during his military career: Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and M-14 Rifle-Sharpshooter Medal.
He worked his entire career as a carpenter, following in his Father's footsteps. He moved to Florida in 2002 and was a member of the following: Nam Knights, Marine Corp League, Purple Heart Recipients, DAY, VFW Post 110 American Legion. He was always involved in the Toys for Tots program, loved his Harley, was an avid dog lover and was known to his friends as "HOLLYWOOD". He is survived by his two sons Mark and Nick and his brothers.
Funeral service will be Monday, November 18, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. His final resting place will be the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida at 2:00 PM.
