Thelma Jean Stone, 85, of North Port, Fl. passed away February 24, 2017, at home, after a brave fight with cancer. Thelma was born February 8, 1932 in Marion, OH to the late Robert & Pauline (Glasgow) Walkins. She moved to the Sarasota area 53 years ago.
Thelma had a quick sense of humor, and was loved by all who met her. She enjoyed motorcycling, camping, gambling, fishing, traveling and the outdoors. She also had a unique connection with wild animals and enjoyed living in North Port among the wildlife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Evelyn Lichtenberger Hinaman.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter and best friend, Sandy Stone and significant other Susan Trupiano, niece Pat (Regan) Hensel, and nephew, Roger Lichtenberger.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, March 4, from 12:00 to 12:30 at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd. Pt. Charlotte, Fl. 33952 with a Celebration of Life to follow. A Committal Service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, immediately following the service.
