Virginia D. Hendrickson, 81, of Punta Gorda, FL died May 18, 2008. She was born June 17, 1926 in Daytona Beach, FL to Henry and Virginia Dewey. She grew up in Daytona and had been crowned Miss Daytona Beach several times over the years. After marrying her husband, Edward Hendrickson, a former mayor of Punta Gorda, they moved to Charlotte County and raised their family here in Punta Gorda.
She is survived by her children, Buz Cheryl Hendrickson of Punta Gorda; Rodney Patti Hendrickson of Punta Gorda; Kim Philip Owens of Pt Charlotte and Janell Terry Norton of Punta Gorda; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A Gathering will be held from 2pm till 4 pm, Saturday May 31, 2008 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
