Walter Foster, 76, of Venice, Fla., passed away November 17, 2015. He was born in Beverly, Mass., on May 29, 1939. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Walt was employed by Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, and previously worked for Sarasota County in Facilities Maintenance and as a 911 Dispatcher.
He was an active volunteer throughout his life. He served with the Beverly Fire and Police Departments, and once in Florida, the Sarasota County Volunteer Fire Department, retiring as Captain. Most recently he devoted his time to the American Cancer Society, driving patients for its Road to Recovery program and assisting with the annual Relay for Life event.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, two daughters, Cindy (Ron) Schultz and Wendy (Mike) Rose, and grandchildren Aaron, Jordan, Alexandria and Jacob.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 20, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 312 West Miami Ave, Venice, FL.
