He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis and his children, Scott (Pam) Pugh, Catherine Diezi, Virginia (Dale) Fishtorn, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Doris Gilotty.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from railroad service, and the railroad division of the NTSB where he was once considered the foremost expect on railroad safety. He volunteered as a trustee at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL, and as a Guaudian ad Litem in Indiana and Charlotte County, FL. He was a member of Libery Bible Church in Chesterton, IN.
Memorial service will be held on July 27, 2013 in Chesterton, IN.
