
William Edward Wolf, known to his friends and family as Bill, passed away peacefully on January 29th 2017 at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Florida. Bill was 78. Born January 28 1939 in Barberton OH, Bill called New Martinsville WV his childhood home, with summers spent in Loundenville OH on his grandparents' farm. Bill attended Magnolia High School where he was known for his excellent musicianship. He played the trumpet in the marching band and in "The Basin Street Five", a group of friends who performed locally. Bill graduated in 1956 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Worcester College and Ohio State University, and eventually a Master's Degree in the same field from the University of Delaware. He spent his early career working at the Applied Physics Lab of John's Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and later worked in the research and development at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington Delaware where his creativity and problem solving skills earned him accolades. His many hobbies included designing, building and sailing boats on the Chesapeake Bay, playing the piano and trumpet and spending time with his beloved Border Collies, Leroy and Barney. He is predeceased by his parents, M. Rosalind Wolf (Nee Zimmerman) and C. Earl Wolf. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lorraine Defede-Wolf (Nee Gorgal), his brother Jack Wolf, son Erik Pullman, daughter Alison Wolf-Bissette, two grandchildren, three nephews and one niece. Services will be held at Kays, Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home on 635 E Marion Ave in Punta Gorda, FL on Wednesday Feb 8th at 11am.
