Obituary of Andrea Maria Enyvari
Dr. Andrea Maria Enyvari (Polner) April 27, 1940-January 22, 2023 Andrea peacefully passed away after a brief illness at the age of 82 years. She was born in Szekesfehervar, Hungary, the youngest of three sisters. She came to love the outdoors at a young age and frequently accompanied her father on hikes and hunting trips in the countryside. After finishing high school, she was accepted into medical school and it was during her university years that she met her husband, Andras who was training to be a physician also. Andrea graduated as a Laboratory Medicine specialist and Andras qualified as a Head and Neck (ENT) Surgeon. Andrea loved gardening and took every opportunity to putter in her garden. She was blessed with a “green thumb” and everything she planted seemed to thrive. She also had a great love for cooking and was a gifted chef. She loved to experiment with new flavours and different types of ethnic cuisine. She and her husband had two sons, and the family lived for several years in West Africa before they moved to Canada in 1981, finally settling in Port Moody, BC. For the next 42 years, Andrea was busy with her work, raising her family and enjoying many passions. She was a voracious reader who loved to explore new authors and had an extensive library. She and Andras travelled widely in Europe, the South Pacific and the Caribbean. She was passionate about world history and events. She always stood firm with her opinions and there was never any doubt about how she felt about a topic. She’d tell it to you, straight up. Andrea is survived by her husband of 55 years, Andras, her two sons Andrew (Coreen, Aaron) and Adam. She adored her grandson Aaron, who always made her smile. She also leaves behind many extended family members in Hungary and Europe. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. As per Andrea’s wishes, a private family service will be held in her memory. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Royal Columbian Hospital for their wonderful care of our mother in her final days. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Enyvari family.
