It is with great sadness that we announce Kenneth Stanley Krasman, age 85 passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, April 7th 2017 at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Port Moody, BC. The family would like to extend a great amount of gratitude to the Doctors and especially the Nursing staff for their care and attention of Ken.
Ken will be greatly missed by Lois, his loving wife of 64 years. Ken and Lois have four wonderful children, their daughter Maureen (Mike) and their sons Rod (Colleen), Dan (Lisa) and Darryl. Ken had the pleasure of six grandchildren David, Erin (Doug), Scott, Ryan, Emily and Eric and five great-grandchildren Danielle, Orla, Bryn, Charlie and Taylor.
Ken is predeceased by his brother Doug in August 2012 and sister in-law Heidi in September 1999.
Ken was born in Calgary, Alberta to Robert and Margaret (Anderson) Krasman and was the youngest of two boys. Ken and his brother Doug grew up in Bowness helping their Dad operate their family mink farm. Ken started a long career with the Imperial Oil Calgary refinery at the age of 17. His career took the family to Benicia, California, Sarnia and Toronto, Ontario finally settling in North Vancouver, BC in 1975. Ken retired from Imperial Oil in 1987 as BC Product Supply Manager. After retiring, Ken and Lois moved to the White Rock area where Ken was an active member of the Hazelmere Golf Course and local curling clubs.
Loving sports from a young age, Ken will be particularly remembered for his love of golf, hockey, curling and Blue Jays baseball. Ken had a passion for gardening which he inherited from his father Robert. His dry sense of humor and banter could erupt a room into laughter. He took great pride in his family and the loving relationships they all share. His family will carry on his enjoyment of a good laugh, a story told and a wee dram of the Highland nectar.
The family would like to extend a most heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Shaughnessy Care Centre for their dedication and care of Ken during his years with them.
A great animal lover all his life, the family would ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BCSPCA in memory of Kennneth Stanley Krasman.
