
Lois M. McCrady (Reid), age 72, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2016 in the McKenney Creek Hospice. She joins her husband Gordon McCrady (April, 2006) and daughter Heather McCrady (June 6, 2016). Born the daughter of Norma & James Reid and sister of Bob (Shirley) Reid in London, Ontario. A Medical Radiation Technologist graduate from Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario, Lois married Gordon McCrady in 1966. The two moved to British Columbia in the 1960’s, and celebrated 40 years of friendship and loving partnership in 2006. She was loving mother to Heather McCrady (Aaron Watmough), grandmother to Tristen, Erica, Arian, Kelsey and Briana, and sister-in-law to Diane & Brian Wastle. Dearly missed by her nieces and nephew, Devon, Shelley, Dena, and Rob. Lois spent her career taking care of others, working in London, Brantford, Toronto, at the St. Mary’s Hospital, the Surrey Memorial Hospital, and teaching at BCIT and UCFV, having earned her instructor's certificate from Simon Fraser University. The First President of BCAMRT (formerly BC CSRT) Lois was a member and executive of CAMRT, a member of ISSRT, and also volunteered actively within her community focusing on Emergency Preparedness and Amateur Radio. She was truly a mentor and a shining example to the women in her profession. A lifelong Girl Guide, eventually achieving the position of Commissioner for BC. Recipient of Women of Distinction Award (1989) and PoCo Heritage Society’s Volunteer of the Year (2014). She was a Cordon Bleu certified chef, a dedicated crafter, and seamstress. A world traveller, Lois dedicated much of her time to Gogo Grandmothers, working to help grandmothers raising their grandchildren in Africa. She and Gordon pioneered their own business, Ship-Rad Services, installing and maintaining medical imaging systems on cruise ships. She will be fondly remembered by friends, family, and all those whose lives she brightened with her presence. The family is deeply grateful to the many friends who took shifts to be with Lois during the final weeks of her life. Your generosity and time and spirit is much appreciated.
Family and Friends will be greeted at a Celebration of Life, to be held on Friday, June 10,2016 at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Church, 2211 Prairie Avenue, Port Coquitlam. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the MS Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
