March 16, 1926 to May 10, 2023
Becky passed away peacefully with Her family by Her side.
She traveled to Vancouver to be with family for Easter and fell ill. She spent a lovely Easter weekend before going into Hospital. She was able to come out for a few days to see her granddaughters wedding dress and then sadly returned to hospital for a short time before passing away.
In 1948 she married Gerard (Gerry) Bandet. They spent 30 years together before Gerry’s passing in 1979. She toured the Holy Land in 1980 solidifying Her faith. Becky was an artist, writer and chef. Over the years Becky did many paintings, including a mural of the Comox glacier and eagles. Many of the wildlife scenes she painted were on dried tree fungi. She has published two books of her poetry that she had written over her lifetime. She also restored statues for churches and individuals from all over Canada.
In 1996 she married for a second time to Raymond Carpenter. They remained happily married until His death in 2008. Becky and Ray often traveled to the Prairies and Vancouver to visit family, friends and especially the grandchildren.
In the later years Becky enjoyed travelling with her family, with the icefield parkway being a favorite. A bit adventurous, in her 90s she rode in helicopters, on motorcycles, quads and even enjoyed some target shooting. On one of our many trips we saw the Spotted Lake near Osoyoos. She loved this as she had read about it in the Oh! Canada Magazine. The Matriarch and last in her family alive, she will be missed by all who came to her for advice, wisdom and maybe a piece of apple pie. Becky’s home was always a beehive of activity and her phone often rung off the hook as she would be making cinnamon rolls, soup, buns or the famous pecan tarts to feed all those that visited.
She is survived by 2 sons Don, Pat (Natasha) and 2 daughters Denise (Doug), Monique (Randy) as well as 8 Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by Her two Husbands Gerry and Ray and one son Ron.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Mary’s Meals Canada. This was a cause near and dear to Mom.
