It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Edgar Shideler announce his peaceful passing on August 11, 2022 . Norm was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on April 10, 1928, the son of Elmer & Regina (Larsen) Shideler.
Norm’s family moved to Coquitlam in 1939. Norm served in the Merchant Navy during WWII, then worked for Seagrams and BC Hydro. He married Pauline ‘Polly’ Pelcher in 1950 and they shared 50 years together until Polly’s passing in 2001.
Norm enjoyed life to the fullest and was the first to say that he’d been very lucky in life and so very thankful for everything. He was an avid fisherman, a hunter, and in our eyes, could build or fix anything. Norm retired when he was 60 years old & enjoyed 34 years of retirement, which included travelling extensively throughout the world with Polly.
Norm is survived by his daughter Diane (Gord) and son Norman (Cathy), 3 grandaughters, Lisa (Zayne), Chelsea (Dave) & Rheanne, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Courtenay, Kai and Zoie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, August 31, 2022 at First Memorial Funeral Services Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave, Port Coquitlam, BC. Luncheon to follow.
