OCTOBER 26, 1937 – NOVEMBER 7, 2022

Ranaraja Mudiyanselage Samarakoon, age 85, of Port Coquitlam, BC, passed away on November 7th, 2022.

Raj was born in Kegalle, Sri Lanka to Herat Banda and Leelawathie Dassanayake. He was the second eldest of nine brothers and sisters.

He graduated from Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia in chemical engineering and went on to practice instrumentation and design in his accomplished career, working across Canada and abroad. He had a profound appreciation of nature, and Canadian landscapes where he was often photographed. He especially enjoyed being near a stream or water. In his pastime, he was a talented artist and avid reader.

Raj was a gentle and generous soul; a loyal and loving husband; a kind and dedicated father and fun loving grandfather. Raj was devoted to God, his faith and his church.

He is survived by his wife Sumana, his two daughters, Sakunthala and Ruwanmali, his son-in-law Nevanka, and his grandchildren Anika and Aravinda. He will be forever loved, ever missed, and always in our hearts.

A Service in His Memory will be Held On November 17th at 2:30 PM at the Coquitlam Christian Centre
