Happy 70th birthday daddy.

It’s been just over two months since you left us, yet it seems like an eternity.

Today, we laid you to rest as per your wishes in the sea, with your old friend and a  compassionate and kind couple who took us from Belcarra to Indian Arm in their beautiful boat.

How fitting that they recently changed their boat engine to a Yamaha, just like you would have liked.

Thank God that the fickle Vancouver weather behaved for once. It was perfect, not too hot but not rainy, with peaceful waves and calm winds.

Hope you liked the spot we chose for you, with full view of the mountains, away from the crowds, with water so deep multiple jellyfish were floating in their magical paradise just beneath where we released you.

Daddy, the world is a lesser place without you. But you were too good for this world. And now you don’t have to worry about anything anymore.

I love you forever and ever and wish I could hear you say “I love you sweetheart” one last time.

Be happy in heaven as you deserve, where life is fair, with the freedom that you so love. Have so many adventures that you can tell us endless stories when we meet again.

To Dearest Ridwan in Heaven:-

Our friendship began at our primes at Brock, a time we probably had in our lives the least worries and the most abundant energy for studying as well as engaging in badminton, biking, pool etc. We had our virgin experience of snow from which we could let our bodies fall on the ground without having any pain.

We played badminton and pool a few times a week, and I was much strengthened in combating in badminton against you who was a much better player.

We bought the same brand of bike to provide transportation to & fro downtown. On our bikes, we went to a nearby drive-in cinema to watch free movie, and notably we biked to Niagara Falls to enjoy the splendid views of its breathtaking water cascading, the vibrant downstream river flow and the surrounding natural beauty.  You also accompanied me on train to visit my high school colleagues in London and Hamilton.

We parted to pursue respectively our different goals that had enriched our lives and fulfilled our career commitment & engagement with the people around us, our families, colleagues and friends.

I still remembered the excitement in my visit to Singapore of talking over phone with you, in which you told me that you had become a millionaire!  I was pleased to have accompanied you in your two visits to Hong Kong, including in one that we had crossed the then Chinese border to Shenzhen. It was nice that you had met my wife & son, and I had met your wife.

I was more than pleased to learn of your cozy proposal of financial assistance to me at a time when Hong Kong had its protests and unrest.

I treasure these fond memories which will be with me until the day I take my leave. It so happened that you take an early leave such that I can send you this message. Let us meet somewhere some time !!

His popular phrase "For what?" in his unique voice will forever be etched in our minds. Thank you Uncle Ridwan for the wonderful memories and you will always be in our hearts.❤️

*Kaye*: I was fortunate to have met Uncle Ridwan on a few occasions when he’s in Singapore and in Canada. His infectious laughter, humorous and carefree demeanour made it a joy to be around him. I remember how Aunty Alin will nag at him to eat healthier when he’s back in SG/ Indonesia, but he will always respond with “it’s ok lah” and eat his favourite lemak food.
Uncle Ridwan had a knack for storytelling, and I will always miss the exciting stories and jokes he has to share.

Thank you Uncle Ridwan, and I hope you are free from pain and suffering, enjoying your lemak food wherever you are. My heart goes out to Aunty Alin, but rest assured that she is well loved and cared for by friends and family ❤️

*Meow Leng*: We were fortunate to have known Ridwan, our paths crossing during our family trip to Canada. From the start, his kindness and generosity stood out-not in grand gestures, but in the quiet, effortless way he cared for those around him. My daughters enjoyed their conversations with him, drawn to his humor and warmth.
Whenever he's back in Singapore, his routine - carrying a waist pouch and going for his walks, finding comfort in little things, like savoring his favourite lemak food at coffee shops and hawker centres, a reminder of how he appreciated life in its simplest forms. His favourite snack-Nyonya Siok prawn crackers, was something I like to order for Alin to bring back for him.
His sudden passing is heartbreaking to us. A life lived with such kindness never truly fades - it continues in our hearts.

Dear Alin, Nadia and James,
We know Ridwan for since 1967 and 1974 since he started his studies at Brock and McMaster Universities in Ontario. . We became close friends, also in our Indonesian student association. In fact, Ridwan was a member of our groom’s usher team at our wedding in 1975 (photo).
Even though we were a distance away from Ridwan and Alin, we have been keeping close contact through the internet and travel.
The following is what we can say about Ridwan :
1.	He  was a very dedicated to Alin and Nadia, hardworking , knowledgeable, competent and successful  businessman.
2.	Very dedicated to his parents. Always considered his parent’s business efforts to be meant for the family.
3.	He has always been generous to all his siblings, nieces and nephews , family, friends and employees. 
4.   Ridwan was not a man of talk, but of action. In fact he lived the teachings of our Lord Jesus:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven".
Ridwan was always down to earth and humble, not addicted to wealth and power.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy"
He was generous to family and friends, taught Nadia to be generous to people in need. Always willing to give people second chances.
He was very forgiving to those who trespass against him. 

He is now in a better place with Our Good Sheppard.

In loving memory of Uncle Ridwan. 

I thank God for Uncle and his life. I treasure the strong christian legacy my extended family have given over a lifetime. Uncle Ridwan embodied a life of kindness and dedication. 

The earliest memory of Uncle and Aunty Alin is when they took me away on holiday to Lake District as a girl. I shall always remember the love shown then and over the years particularly when mum passed. 

Uncle Ridwan made the world a brighter place, he will be dearly missed. In Gods care may Uncle rest above with mum, Oma & Opa Kasenda. 

Dear Aunty Alin, Nadia & James, our heartfelt condolences. Although we are far away, our family is keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers.  May Gods unfailing love and peace be with you.

A mild mannered uncle with a quick wit and very humorous. He always made us (cousins) laugh and he was also very calm under pressure. We really cherish your generosity - opening up your house, buying us food and many gifts. 

Grateful that we got to spend time together in Canada in August last year. We will miss you so very much indeed and may your soul rest in peace.

Walking down the Lane with a close confidant 

Let me share my story to those who knew Ridwan Kasenda
Friend for the past 25 years.  A close confidant, a neighbor, a travel companion, a badminton buddy and family friend.

Throughout those years, we shared many tales of life in our friendship. 
His struggles, successes and all things good and bad; betrayal that he experienced made him a stronger person.

Yes, without doubt, he was very generous and compassionate towards others.  This brings him a deep sense of fulfillment and joy. 

He showed gratitude to those who help him; extending his empathy and kindness to others.                                                                                                                             His kindness makes him the most beautiful person to those who knew him.                                                      

Some of his favorite’s foods are Roast Pork Belly, Pizza and KFC Chicken beside Keropok which we always fried together outside of his home. 

Not knowingly, on New Year Eve was the last supper we enjoyed together. I cooked a good meal for him (being home alone) and added three other friends to join us.                                         

During the last few years, he had told me that he had lived to his fullness in his life: travelled and saw the world many times over as well as eating all the food he loved. 

He always told me many times that if he ever fallen sick, his wishes are to go immediately. No suffering. He had seen what others had gone through and his wish is not to burden anyone in his family. 
 
However he had left behind, many incredible fond memories to many who knew him 

Sadly, he will be dearly missed but this cherished memories never fade, they will live in our hearts to those who came to know him
I felt a deep gratitude for being able to help tell some of his story.

I am so saddened on the passing of one of my best friends Ridwan.
The first time I met Ridwan  was more than 50 years ago at the Indonesian students picnic event in Toronto Island ( I was behind him holding the bike ).
We have been good friends since then and stayed in touch all those years.
I am so grateful to have met and know him and later his family.

Ridwan was a very kind, generous, compassionate and caring person.
He loved and dedicated to his family very much.

Whenever Ridwan visited Toronto, he will always contacted me and met me.
The last time I saw him and his family was back in March 2020 when they were visiting Toronto just few days before the Covid pandemic lockdown was declared.

My condolences to Alin, Nadia & James and the family.
May time take away the pain and leave all of you with all the warm and happy memories of your life together.

Your kind demeanour, unwavering patience, sharp business acumen, and ever-positive outlook have profoundly influenced both my personal and professional life. The generous sharing of your wisdom and experience, coupled with your sincerity and selfless nature, even under the most adverse circumstances, have inspired everyone around you.
There is so much more we could continue to share, yet it seems God has other, grander plans for you now. You will forever remain in our hearts and minds. Alin and Nadia, please stay strong; Mae, Ew-Jin, Ew-Jun, and I are only a call away.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Ridwan. He was a dear friend whose kindness and warmth touched so many lives. We remember and honor Ridwan, a man whose humility and kindness touched the lives of many. He was more than just a friend - he was a source of warmth, and generosity.

Ridwan had a quiet strength, a heart that always sought to uplift those around him, and a presence that brought comfort. His humility was a gift, reminding us all of the beauty in simplicity and sincerity. He cared deeply for those he loved and his friends and his actions always spoke louder than words.

Personally, I will always be grateful to Ridwan for his concern in introducing me to someone when I was still single. That simple act of friendship spoke volumes about the kind of person he was—always thoughtful, always looking out for others, always willing to help in ways both big and small.

To his beloved wife, daughter, and family, his absence leaves a void that words cannot fill. But in our hearts, his spirit remains alive—in the kindness he showed, the love he shared, and the memories he gifted us.

May we honor his legacy by carrying forward the lessons he taught us: to be kind, to be humble, and to love unconditionally.

Rest in peace, Ridwan. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Ridwan was a warm and cheerful person. From Alin, we know him to be a loving husband and father who dedicated himself to his family with unwavering care and love. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter and cherished memories. May he rest in peace.

In this time of bereavement may I pray the Serenity prayer over Alin, Nadia and loved ones.
God grant them the serenity
"to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference."

From this same prayer may I echo the lines of the lesser known and read second part as my personal tribute to Ridwan. Through knowing his beloved wife Alin also buddy and Nadia  beloved daddy's girl, I have come to endear him as brother. For me these lines aptly describe how he has lived his life, who and what he was and the legacy he unintentionally left behind:

"Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
Amen."

I had the privilege as their live-in guest for a period enjoying precious time and their great warm and generous hospitality. During which, besides better acquaintance, Ridwan shared three very thought provoking words. " Nothing is permanent " he reiterated several times in our interactions with gleeful wide smiles. These words resonated from his inner being. Not easy words in the challenges faced. Caught a glimpse of his strength an aura of how large a person he was with great positive vibes. He knew what he was talking about. He had walked the talk. Life is fleeting, he had embraced all ups and downs and everyone with a magnanimous heart. A very good hearted selfless man to family, relatives, employees, friends and even strangers, for the very first time for me to have met - a well accomplished, giving, high calibre person , Ridwan you live on in our hearts and memories.

I am here to feel my deep sadness and overwhelming grief. I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that you are no longer here.

I cherish the memories we shared: you are my walking buddy, the fun breakfasts we had and the laughter and the quiet moments when it was just us. Your friendship was a gift, and I am so grateful to have you as a friend in my life. Rest in peace my friend, I will deeply miss you.

It was really a shock to me when I heard on Mar 10 2025 that Ridwan had passed on the night before... It is unexpected that a good boss cum good friend  just left us out of sudden without leaving any words.... 

I know Ridwan when we both went to Civil Defence for re-service and later he invited me to join his company Supratechnic Pte Ltd, & he told me that one day we will both retire together, that was 30 years ago.

Ridwan is such a beloved friend and a truly remarkable person. Before joining his company, he has helped me  unconditionally for both my personal & family problems. After joining his companies, I realized that he always help people / friends  wholeheartedly & with trust.

When Ridwan retired in Vancouver, I picked him and sent him from / to Singapore Changi airport when he came back once every 3 months. He always told me to go back & sleep after that , no need go to office as the timing was always midnight. He was really a  very  considerate boss .

Ridwan likes to ask if we made a donation to a charity organization whenever he came back, regardless if the company was profitable or not. His generosity & kindness had influenced us that whenever possible, we should lend our helping hand to those in need.

Ridwan, thank you for all the guidance, help, benefit and friendship you have given to us,. All the ex-supra staff will remember you forever  in our hearts. I always remember the time when we travelled to Malaysia office , sharing meals, discussing about company business / problems, & during bedtime in hotel, talking about family , children etc.

Ridwan, hope you rest in peace and be with God happily. You will be in my heart until I leave this world as you were the one who changed my life after I joined you in Supra.

When you first came aboard as our Captain, we were all in a small boat with minimum crew.

You took the helm and charted the right course to head then just drifting in the open sea.

As a visionary leader, you are determined to reach the destination that you had in mind.

Though we encounter choppy water & storms, your steady hand and steadfast spirit never weaver and continue to steer the boat to calm water.

Together, we manage to reach new ground and with your foresight even manage to upgrade to a bigger and more fleet of better boats including more crews on board.

As our Captain, we were well cared for in our journey together. You shared with us what we have on board and are always ready to help those in need. 

We will remember and respect you for being a visionary leader and through our journey together inspired by your show of generosity, kindness and selflessness.

As you embark on another journey, Bon Voyage Captain Ridwan. Rest In Peace.

We remember Mr. Ridwan Kasenda, not just as my or our leader, but as a mentor, a best friend and the great one of my elders and The Final Boss in my life.

Mr. Ridwan Kasenda possessed a rare ability to inspire, to guide, and to empower me and all of us.

I remember when 1997 & 1998 Asian Economic Crisis time, he had selflessly sacrificed his and his own shareholders interest to lead the company and its employees through this crisis and others - a moment that continues to shape my professional life.
I’ll never forget how his dedication rewarded me to have an unforgettable trip to visit his family and explore things that I may not be able to do it in my life during in Canada and USA. 

Thank you Mr. Ridwan Kasenda and his family. Mr. Ridwan Kasenda taught me the importance of the values of: mediocrity, modesty, low-keyness, etiquette and integrity, and for that, I am eternally grateful in my life.

Though he is no longer, the lessons he taught and the impact he made will live on in my life. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and compassion - including his family and Kasenda family.

He always put people first and treated everyone with respect, regardless of their position. He had a warm and approachable demeanor, and he always made me feel valued and appreciated.

I will remember him as a true leader and a genuine person. He will be deeply missed, but the positive impact he has on my life and will never be forgotten.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr Ridwan Kasenda. Having spent 18 years at Supratechnic Pte Ltd as my first job, I am forever grateful for the sound environment he provided, the invaluable experience gained and growth during my time there - an opportunity made possible by his vision and leadership.

Mr Ridwan was an inspiration to many. His dedication, values, and contributions have left a lasting impact, and his legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touches.

Mr Ridwan's unexpected passing has really saddened us.  

He was not just our boss, but a mentor, a friend, and a source of inspiration.  He always made us feel valued and supported.  He is the most generous boss we have ever met.  We will forever cherish the lessons learned and the moments shared under his guidance.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute to an extraordinary person—my ever-good boss, Mr. Ridwan. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support have made a lasting impact on my life for the past 25 years. He was not just a boss but a mentor, a guide, and a true inspiration.

I am forever grateful for the opportunities he gave me, for believing in me, and for always encouraging me to do better. His dedication and passion were unmatched—traveling tirelessly by car from south to north Malaysia whenever he visited. I can still hear his words:

"Evelyn, still need around 5 hours to reach. You can eat keropok, kacang, tibits, but you cannot sleep—you must keep talking with me!"

I will always cherish the memories we shared, especially those simple yet meaningful moments—our Satay Kajang feast, even when we were already full, and our unforgettable Bah Kut Teh meals in Klang, where he reminded me that it was okay to enjoy a little bit of fatty meat. By right, you were supposed to meet us again this year for another Klang Bah Kut Teh meal.

Mr. Ridwan, you will always be remembered. Your kindness and generosity will continue to inspire me. Rest in peace, my respected boss. You will be deeply missed.

I am Angie Ng from Malaysia and I write to honor and remember Ridwan, my kind and dedicated boss, who was the shareholder and Director of Supratechnic (M) Sdn Bhd before year 2016. I am deeply saddened by his sudden loss.

I am grateful for the privilege of having known Ridwan, not just as a boss but as a true friend. He was always there for his ex-staff, offering help and support whenever needed. His generosity and genuine care for the well-being of his ex-staff.

In year 2012 I was blessed by him for a holiday trip to Canada with my colleague Ms. Joyce to visit his home and other places in Canada. Is a memorial trip that I will never forget in my life for his blessing to me. I thank you Ridwan, his wife Alin, daughter Nadia and his son in law James for their genuine hospitality to me. 

Ridwan's life was truly a blessing to all who had the honor of working with him,

A few words about my wonderful boss & mentor, Mr. Ridwan Kasenda. He was not only a boss & the mentor to me but rather more like a parent. 

Mr. Ridwan gave me many opportunities in my career, from a mechanic to a general manager in the company. He guides me & taught me the importance of values and always encouraged me to follow my dreams to complete my university study. 

I'll forever cherish the memories that we enjoyed together. Though our time together has ended, the values and lessons He instilled in me will live on forever."

I would like to send my deepest condolences to Mr. Ridwan’s family, friends, and all who loved him.

I am forever grateful for the trust Mr. Ridwan placed in me and for the opportunities he gave me to grow When I first joined Supratechnic, he welcomed me with kindness and guidance, not just as a boss but as someone who genuinely cared for his team. He took care of me in work and in life, and for that, I will always be thankful. 

Mr. Ridwan was a wonderful leader who treated everyone at Supratechnic with fairness and respect. He valued his team deeply, especially the long-serving staff. I’ll never forget how he rewarded their dedication with unforgettable trips, like the holidays in Canada.

I remember years ago in 1970s when I worked with Ridwan’s father he used to tell me, “My son from Canada is coming to Singapore to help manage Supratechnic. He is very capable and hardworking”. His father was always beaming with pride and joy
whenever he mentioned Ridwan.

Though I (Li Li) don’t work directly under Ridwan, must say he had been a wonderful boss and a friend. He exuded great confidence and guided staff well and helped set up many branches in neighbouring countries.

When he migrated to Canada, he would always make every effort to catch up with us for a good meal. We are supposed to meet up again in June or July and now we will miss seeing him.

Thank you Ridwan for the link you have bonded till today by spending happy meals with us whenever you are in Singapore.
Ex-Supra’s girls (Caroline, Geok Hwa and Tracy) who had worked with Ridwan, we remember him not just for the professional successes achieved under his leadership but for his personal touches, kindness and understanding extended to each of us.
His patience to guide and teach us when we were working in Supratechnic have indeed paved and prepared us in our careers. He is an example of one who taught us to believe in ourselves in anything we do and go for it.

He even extended his hospitality to Caroline’s friend, Meg when we (Caroline and Meg) went to stay in his house in Vancouver some years back. We will dearly miss him for his friendship and fond memories of him will live on. A tribute to our very dear friend, Ridwan Kasenda.
