It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Tom March 11, 2026
He was born in Bombay, India on Dec 21,1934 and emigrated to Canada in 1968. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (2019) and is survived by his children, step children, grand children and great grand children. He provided love, support and compassionate care for Margaret at their home in Maple Ridge for many years.
Tom had a love of music from a young age and became a talented musician who could play many stringed instruments. He played on cruise ships, jazz clubs and taught many students at the Burnaby Music Centre. Most afternoons Tom could be found listening to his favourite jazz musicians while playing games on his computer.
Tom also enjoyed watching tv, with his recent favourites being Bonanza reruns, Jimmy Kimmel Live, CNN as well as MMA and wrestling. The Vancouver Canucks were always on at game time but he was known to change the channel if the Canucks were losing.
Tom was a great cook and made mouth watering dinners and fantastic desserts. His paratha breakfast sandwiches were classic. It was common for him to make extra and offer treats to his family, friends and neighbours.
We would like to thank the staff at the Royal Columbian trauma ward for their support, care and compassion.
Tom will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made in Tom’s name to the MS Society
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
