August 25, 1936 – August 18, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother on August 18, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his parents, Dick and Carrie Peniuk, survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Doreen, his daughters Susan Peniuk and Diane Borovica (Jurgen), and grandchildren Brendan Borovica and Hannah Borovica.
Walter was the eldest to surviving brothers Richard and Ron Peniuk, and surviving sister Violet McRory, and younger brother to predeceased Josephine Filippone.
Walter began his years as a young man on the fish boats on the West Coast of BC. He had a fulfilling career as a drafting engineer that he served with great passion, and that desire to create and build spilled out into his hobbies. Walter loved to camp and fish and enjoyed many camping trips over the years with his family. A huge thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and palliative team for their care and compassion.
No service will be held at this time. Donations in Walter’s memory are welcome to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. First Memorial Burkeview Chapel 604-944-4128
Gone Fishing
I've finished life's chores assigned to me, so put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole For I've been invited to the fishin' hole. Where every day is a day to fish,To fill your heart with every wish. Don't worry, or feel sad for me, I'm fishin' with the Master of the sea. We will miss each other for awhile, but you will come and bring your smile. That won't be long you will see, till we're together you and me. To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I'm missin'Just tell 'em I've gone fishin'.
