Born to Dr. Wilhelm Penner Neufeld and Luella Viola Neufeld on November 2, 1946, in Vancouver, BC, Bill was a man of sturdy independence, unique sense of humor, and intricate tastes.
Bill spent his career as a gravel truck owner and operator, working throughout the interior of BC and Vancouver Island in earlier years, and in later years operating out of the Vancouver area. He forayed into home-building in the 70s and 80s, and was keen on his financial and real estate investments. These vocations suited his enterprising nature, and his relentless approach to work was appreciated by his peers.
Bill loved to socialize, debate, and share his often unconventional and almost always strongly held opinions, which were informed by his daily reading and impressive memory. He was an automotive enthusiast with a fondness for family road trips, and he doted on family pets.
Surviving him are his two brothers, John and Paul Neufeld, and his two children, Thomas and Alexandra Neufeld. His steadfast independence shaped their upbringing, influencing them to become self-reliant individuals in their own right.
Bill will be dearly missed, and his straightforward character, spirited banter, and resilience will remain in the memories of those who knew him. A private memorial service will be held the second weekend of August. The Neufeld family appreciates your kind thoughts and condolences during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the BC Children’s Hospital or the Royal Canadian Legion.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.firstmemorialportcoquitlam.com for the Neufeld family.
