Alan served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his military service, he worked several jobs; most recently as a diesel mechanic for Ryder, bringing steady dedication and practical skill to his work.
Alan loved spending time with his family, and he carried that devotion into everyday life with a quiet constancy. Generous with both his time and resources, he was the kind of man people counted on—someone who showed up, helped without hesitation, and made others feel cared for in ways both large and small.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Alan felt most at home outdoors. He was also a true handyman who could fix anything, meeting problems with patience, know-how, and the satisfaction of leaving things better than he found them. Known as “Uncle Al” to everyone, he had a way of making family out of friends and friends out of strangers.
Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Welch; his parents, Edward & Emily Welch; and his brother-in-law, Randy Miller. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Welch (Dan); his son, Alan Welch; his siblings, Linda, Katie & Ray; his in laws, Marta, Susan, Brenda (Joe); his nieces & nephews, Christopher, Taylir, Leah, Joseph, Rachael and Natasha; and his friends at Stratmill Brook Apartments.
A Celebration of Al's life will be announced at a later date.
