Barbara J. Lewis

Barbara J. (Kechak) Lewis, 88, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Kechak; her brother, John Kechak; and her son, Michael Larnerd. Survivors include her loving daughter and son in law, Nancy and Gary Arnold, of Binghamton; her sister in law, Pat Kechak, of Reno, NV; and her nieces and nephew, Jody Kechak Barnum, Jill Vanek, and Jason Kechak.

Barbara worked as a manager for the Town of Chenango Water Department for 22 years, she was also a longtime member of St. Cyril and Methodius Church where she was active in the Rosary Society and helped out regularly with the bingo games. She enjoyed card playing, trips to Virginia and most of all, spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Barbara’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the third floor staff of Binghamton General Hospital for the excellent care she received.

A memorial mass will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church, 148 Clinton St. Binghamton at 10 AM. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 9 AM until the service. Barbara will be laid to rest at Chenango Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
