Barbara Salva Gorick, 81, joined her Lord God in heaven on August 14, 2018 in the presence of her devoted daughter Catherine. Barbara was born in Binghamton, NY to Frank and Mary (Vanuga) Ellis on February 16, 1937. She went to high school at Johnson City High School and graduated in 1955. She married Joseph W. Salva of Johnson City and they started their family having a son, Joseph and daughter, Catherine. They then moved into their forever home in Conklin, NY built by her Uncle, Edward Ellis. She started and ran her own business, Barbara Ann’s House of Wigs in Binghamton, NY for several years, later passing the successful business on to her partner and dear friend, Shelby Keller. She also enjoyed their cottage in Pennsylvania, sharing many summers with all their family members and friends creating wonderful memories for all. She was the head of Human Development and Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul’s Church in Binghamton under the guidance and friendship of Reverend Father Matthew Brown for many years until the passing of her beloved husband Joseph. She later married second husband Alfred Gorick, Sr. of Kirkwood, NY and became a snow bird in Arizona. She continued her Eucharistic Ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sun City West, AZ and became a Healer of Prayers with the Parish Prayer Group. She became a full-time resident of Sun City West after the passing of Alfred. She enjoyed the beautiful sunshine of Arizona, praying for all those in need, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, loved by so many and will be missed by all. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary; first husband Joe and second husband Al; two brothers Johnny and Frankie; two sisters Mary and Martha; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Barbara is survived by her brother Charles (Sarah) Ellis of Endicott, NY; brother-in-law Thomas (Bernice) Salva of Marcy, NY; son Joseph (Marcy) Salva of Conklin, NY; daughter Catherine (Dale) Cook of Sun City West, AZ; beloved grandchildren Barbara (Jimmy) Fahey, Matthew (Jenna) Cook and Maria, John, Monica Salva; precious great-grandchildren Keegan and Caden Fahey; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, August 24, 2018 at 12Noon from St. Paul's Church, 282 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4-7pm.
