Beverly “Bev” Hamm 88, of Binghamton, New York, passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully on December 31st, 2022. She was surrounded by family in North Carolina as well as family and friends sending love from afar. She was predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, George Hamm; parents Harold and Miriam Scott; and Brother Leonard Scott. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas Hamm and George and his wife, Deanna of Charlotte. She is also survived by granddaughters, Megan, Kristen, Abigail, Aubrey, and great-grandsons, Xaviar, Ryker and Brayden. Whom she loved, “more than all the stars in the sky and all the sand on the beach.”
Beverly was a kind and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was born on August 22nd, 1934, in Afton, N.Y. where she grew up. She was a devout Methodist and appreciated prayer, scripture, and song, as well as fellowship within Chenango Bridge United Methodist Church, where she served as a Communion Steward for over 30 years. She spent her early years working as a legal secretary for Coughlin and Gerhart where she retired after 40 years of service.
Beverly had a generous heart. She never once missed a birthday or a chance to celebrate her friends and loved ones. She found a mountain of joy in the simplest of things, such as sending Christmas cards to her friends and family each year, catching up with friends every evening on the phone, and spending quality time with her loved ones. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing books back and forth with her friends, and most of all watching the birds outside while listening to the Gaither’s.
She spent her last days sharing, and laughing at stories about her childhood, her grandchildren, and the love of her life, “Big George”. Her peaceful, cheerful, and uplifting spirit will surely be missed not only by those she held close but also by those her loved ones held close, whom she prayed for and asked about with knowing only their names.
The family will receive friends at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St, Port Dickinson, N.Y. on Friday January 27th, 2023, from 5pm-7pm followed by a memorial service that will be held at Chenango Bridge First United Methodist Church, Chenango Bridge, on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at 10am with Pastor Robert Clark officiating. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Beverly’s name to the Autoimmune Association https://autoimmune.org/disease-information/crest-syndrome/”
