Brian J. Sobon, 72, of Port Dickinson, New York, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by the family he so dearly loved. Born on November 23, 1953, Brian was a man of steady hand and big heart.
Brian dedicated 34 years of service to the IRS before retiring and continuing his work as an Enrolled Agent. He found deep fulfillment in helping others navigate the complexities of tax distress, offering a helping hand when it was needed most. Yet, his true life’s work was his family. A devoted husband to Anna for 45 years, a proud father, and a doting grandfather, Brian’s favorite moments were those spent with Tucker and Teagan.
Whether he was cheering on the Buffalo Bills, waiting for a bite on a fishing line, or scouting for a rare coin, Brian embraced his hobbies with enthusiasm. He had a lucky streak and a love for life that often led him to the casino or a simple lotto ticket, always finding joy in the game.
He is reunited with his parents, Brownie and Melanie Sobon, and his mother-in-law, Norma Norton. His legacy lives on through his wife, Anna; his children, Bradley (Anne) and Sarah (Cameron); his grandchildren, Tucker and Teagan; his sister, Ann Marie McCarthy; and a community of close friends who will miss his steady presence.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9-10 am at Saint's Cyril & Methodius Church, 148 Clinton Street, Binghamton, NY, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10am.
