Catherine (Kay) Terry Lewis, 106, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Mercy House in Endicott following a brief illness. Born November 9, 1915 in South Hampton, Long Island, NY, she was a daughter of the late George Andrew (Andy) Anderson and Edith Catherine Terry Anderson. Catherine was an amazing woman who lived a life full of purpose. She loved her family deeply and they her. Her warmth, sharp mind, witty humor and determination, along with a sense of fun, and kindness to others, endeared her to all that crossed her path. Her willingness to help others kept her busy. Her years in Florida were filled with activities at her church, volunteering at skilled nursing facilities, and volunteering at the local youth detention center. The young men looked forward to her monthly cakes to celebrate their birthday. Catherine crocheted thousands of hats, mittens, scarves and afghans throughout the years, continuing up to the time of her passing. She donated hats to area hospitals maternity wards for the newborns and local schools. She also made hats every year for her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren for Christmas. She was also known as the candy lady as she was a skilled baker and candy maker and was as generous with giving away her treats to put a smile on others faces as she was with her hats and mittens. She loved the ocean beach, baking, cooking, was a talented artist and musician, loved horses and was a skillful rider, even racing a time or two in her earlier life. When Catherine lived in the Binghamton area she worked as a paralegal for the Firm of Pierce, Resseguie & Hogan for many years. She had many talents and passions but her greatest passion was for her family. Survivors include James L. Lewis (Patricia) and Sally A. Lynn and grandchildren Craig J. Lewis (Kathryn), Catherine Anderson, James L. Lewis II (Guinett), Julie Kirch, Robert Lewis, Chris Lewis (Amy), Sharon Gage, Terry Pomeroy (Paul), Gina Gage, Patricia Sack (Dominic) and Jennifer Gage; 18 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.
