Damon was a 2025 graduate of Chenango Valley High School, while also attending the BOCES New Visions program. He then attended Syracuse University in the Bio Medical Engineering Program. He was deeply determined to earn his place at Syracuse University so that, through his studies, he could one day help others like himself—an aim that reflected both his steady resolve and the generous purpose that guided him.
While attending Chenango Valley High School, Damon played baseball, soccer, volleyball, and was on the swimming and diving Team. He also played on the New England Revolution Amputee Soccer Team and belonged to the AASA American Amputee Soccer Assn., traveling the country to compete. At Syracuse University, he also belonged to the boxing Club and played intramural soccer. Away from the field and the gym, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, video games, and Legos—simple pleasures that brought him comfort, focus, and joy.
Damon was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma at 10 years old (November 8, 2017), 4 months later he had to have his leg amputated (March of 2018). Over the next 9 years Damon battled hard every single day. He battled through many surgeries, radiation, and medications while braving countless rounds of chemo. He fought to be at S.U., going to class in between treatments. He fought to be healthy enough to travel with his soccer team. He fought to be with his friends and family. Damon fought for his life until his last breath. In spite of this he never let cancer define him. He walked into every situation confident with his head held high, and a smile on his face. In that time, he accomplished many personal goals, leaving a legacy of determination and strength that will not be forgotten.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, and that love—freely given and deeply felt—remains one of the clearest reflections of who he was.
